2026 World Cup draw: full groups revealed as 48-team era begins

The draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, held at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., has officially revealed the 12 groups for the tournament — marking the first edition to feature 48 teams. The global football community now knows which teams will battle it out in the opening stage.

The draw took place on December 5, 2025, with the host nations — Mexico, Canada, and the United States — pre-assigned to groups A, B, and D, respectively. 

The resulting group list shows a mix of traditional powerhouses and competitive surprises. Among the standout groupings:

Group C: Brazil national football team will face Morocco national football team, Haiti national football team and Scotland national football team. 

Group K: Portugal national football team is drawn with Colombia national football team, Uzbekistan national football team and a yet-to-be-decided playoff winner. 

Meanwhile, Group E features Germany national football team alongside Curaçao national football team, Ivory Coast national football team and Ecuador national football team. 

Overall, the draw has generated excitement and speculation across the world, as fans begin to analyze possible paths, “groups of death” and early matchups to watch out for.
